Whale Swim News

Yes, it's just around the corner: The 2008 summer swim team season. And this year will be a big one: 2008 marks the 50th anniversary of the Montgomery County Swim League (MCSL); we will host a 50th anniverasry Homecoming Meet; and we will host B Relays.
As mentioned in a previous edition of WhaleMail, registration will be held on Friday, May 16 from 7-9pm at the Whetstone Community Center. Our annual Ice Cream Social will start at 8:00. Come out, get signed up, meet our wonderful new coaches (Katie Collins, Lindsay Rogers and our very own Brian Mahoney!), and catch up with folks you haven't seen all winter.
Other important information:
SAVE THE DATE: The Montgomery Village All- Comers Meet will be held on Saturday, June 7. This meet is VERY important, as it provides swimmers' seed times for the season. Please make every effort to bring your swimmer to this fun meet to kick off the summer.

Finally, two things related to the MCSL 50th anniversary celebration:
Please help spread the word that our first home A meet (Saturday, June 14) will be a HOMECOMING MEET. We are inviting all those who once swam for the Whales (or the Stedwick Stingrays) to come to this meet. We will introduce them at half-time and maybe ask a few of them to share some memories of their years as a Village swimmer. We ask that any "alumni" planning to attend RSVP to me at susan@youngspa.com or 301-990-7898.
Finally, in honor of the MCSL 50th, we would like to create a history of our team, for inclusion on the Whales website. I'm looking for someone (perhaps one of you Whale alums?) to do a little bit of digging and write up something. We will have plenty of leads, as many former Whales (and/or Whale parents) still live in the area or keep in touch with those who do. Please consider taking on this important trip down memory lane...we'd hate to lose our history! Let me know if you can help.
